Hotel Description
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from an apartment rental in Strasbourg’s 5th district, but this place on Rue de Londres completely caught me off guard. The moment you walk into this 135-square-meter space, it’s clear someone actually thought about how people live – not just where they sleep. The ceilings are higher than you’d expect for a city center apartment, and honestly, the light streaming through those windows in the morning makes you want to linger over coffee way longer than planned.
What really gets me is the location, though I mean, Rue de Londres isn’t one of those streets tourists automatically know about, but it’s perfectly positioned between the main train station and the old town. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from Petite France (those gorgeous half-timbered houses everyone posts on Instagram), but you’re also close enough to the Esplanade that you can grab groceries or catch a tram without thinking twice about it. The street itself is surprisingly quiet for being so central – I was worried about noise from the nearby Place de Haguenau, but the apartment faces away from the busier intersections, so you actually get decent sleep.
The space itself feels more like staying in a well-curated home than a rental property. There’s this attention to detail that you don’t usually find – proper kitchen equipment that works, comfortable seating that doesn’t look like it came from a hotel clearance sale, and enough room to spread out without feeling like you’re living in each other’s pockets. I particularly loved that they included local touches without going overboard with the “authentic Alsatian experience” thing that some places push too hard. The apartment manages to feel both elegant and lived-in, which is honestly a rare combination. Parking can be a bit tricky in this neighborhood – there’s street parking but it fills up fast, especially during the Christmas market season when Strasbourg basically doubles its population. That said, the tram connections are so good that you might not even need a car depending on what you’re planning to do. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward too, none of that awkward key-exchange dance you sometimes get with apartment rentals.
