Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be straight with you about Le Phoenix – it’s one of those places that surprises you in the best way possible. When I first walked up to the entrance on Rue Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star spot, but this little hotel has something special going on. The building itself has this understated French elegance that doesn’t scream for attention, which I actually appreciate more than those flashy chain places.

What really got me was the location – and I mean, you can’t fake being literally steps from the cathedral. I’m talking about a two-minute walk where you’re dodging tourists with their cameras up, trying to capture those Gothic spires. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: early morning around 7 AM, before the tour groups descend, you can have those cobblestone streets almost to yourself. The hotel sits right in this sweet spot where you’re in the thick of things but tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with street noise all night. Well, except maybe on weekends when people spill out of the wine bars on Place Kléber, but honestly, that’s just Strasbourg being Strasbourg.

The rooms are… comfortable, I guess is the word. Nothing fancy, but they’ve got character – those thick walls you get in old European buildings, decent beds, and bathrooms that actually have water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s not a given). What I really loved was how the staff seemed to know the neighborhood inside and out. The woman at reception – I think her name was Marie – pointed me toward this tiny boulangerie on Rue des Juifs that I never would’ve found otherwise. Their pain au chocolat was ridiculous. She also mentioned that parking can be a bit of a nightmare during the Christmas market season, which runs longer than you’d think, basically from late November through New Year’s. Pro tip: there’s a public garage about five minutes away that’s way cheaper than trying to park right in the old town.

You know what really sealed the deal for me? It’s how the place feels authentically Strasbourg without trying too hard. You’re not staying in some sterile business hotel, but you’re also not roughing it in a hostel. The 7.9 rating makes sense – it’s solid, reliable, and the location alone justifies the price point. Plus, you can walk to Petite France in about ten minutes, hit up the covered bridges, maybe grab dinner at one of those winstubs where locals actually eat. I mean, when you can stumble back to your hotel after a proper Alsatian meal without needing a taxi or figuring out the tram system, that’s worth something. If you’re looking for a base to explore the city without breaking the bank, Le Phoenix does the job well.

Visitors often choose Strasbourg apartments over traditional hotels because they provide more space, kitchen facilities, and the opportunity to live like a local in this magnificent European capital.

  • Definitely recommend it!! – Giannis from Greece – 27 March 2024 (9/10)

Located almost in the HEART of the old town of Strasbourg (5 minutes walk from the Notre dame) , the apartment is a great base for exploring the historical centre of the city, which clearly needs 3 days. Also, the apartment is exactly as shown in the pictures!! It's warm and comfy and also it features a fully equiped kitchen, A GARAGE which is a must if u want to visit the Alsace region (which should be in everybody's travel list) and 4 comfortable beds, making it the best option for a group of 3 or 4 friends!! As it comes to price, i consider it more than a value for money choice. All in all, i have no hesitation to recommend it and would give it a 10STAR rating if it had a couple more things.

What could be improved: Although the apartment (and of course Strasbourg) promotes sustainable tourism, it didn't have shampoo in the bathroom, kitchen paper and sufficient coffee/tea for 3 people for 3 days. These are not amenities, but necessities and also priceless, so in my opinion they should be available in every apartment. That's the ONLY reason i gave minus 1 point.
Don't miss Ribeauville, Colmar, Eguisheim it's a fault!!

  • Very good – Mark from Australia – 5 October 2023 (8/10)

    Location was great

What could be improved: Communication was lacking

  • Location and comfort in a cost-effective way – Bahar from Turkey – 18 October 2024 (8/10)

It was exactly as it was depicted. I like light a lot, so, the wide windows were great. The bed was comfortable. I didn't have any family or guests with me but I could've easily hosted a dinner, it was that spacious. The location is indeed priceless if you're there for business purposes since it is very close to public transport hubs and the central station. The instructions were crystal clear and easy to follow. The host was very responsive and friendly.

What could be improved: The elevator did not work throughout my stay and the apartment is on the 5th floor. My back is still aching because of carrying all the heavy bags by myself.

  • Exceptional – Danae from United States – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

    Great location and helpful instructions!

  • Perfect stay for christmas! – Denise from Saudi Arabia – 9 December 2024 (10/10)

Location is perfect, clean, beautiful and so comfortable.

  • Exceptional – Glenn from Germany – 9 September 2023 (10/10)

Great Location,5 min walk into the city centre.Apartment was very clean and nicely equipped.Free parking in the city centre great
    Good communication with the owner

What could be improved: Link to apartment form email did not open.

  • Passable – Doritaki from Greece – 20 January 2025 (5/10)

The location was amazing, everything was very close.

What could be improved: While our reservation was for 5 people, there were no sheets or towels upon our arrival. No one answered the phone, communication was entirely through messages through the platform, and after two hours we had an answer about where we could find the sheets and towels for the 5th person, for whom they should have been laid out etc. and not have to look for them.

  • Exceptional – Oksana from Austria – 20 January 2025 (10/10)

The location couldn't be more perfect, just great for walking around the city

  • Disappointing – שגיב from Israel – 16 August 2023 (4/10)

    Good Location.

What could be improved: Terrible experience.
Terrible neighbors. One of the neighbors knocked on the door wildly several times in the middle of the night and threatened us to call the police because our little boy woked up and cryed for 5 minutes.
A small and very old apartment that is not equipped at all (no oven, refrigerator that does not work properly, kitchen that is not properly equipped).
There is absolutely no value for the expensive price.

Pay attention that the parking is only for cars under the height of 180 cm.
If you'rs car higher you will be needed to find parking somewhere else.

    I'm not recommend at all.

  • Idéal pour se sentir chez soi ! – Benedicte from France – 13 April 2025 (8/10)

Appartement très agréable et lumineux. Très bien situé
