Hotel Description
Honestly, I wasn’t expecting much when I first walked up to the Best Western Plus Monopole Métropole on rue Kuhn – I mean, it’s a Best Western, right? But this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The building itself has this lovely Belle Époque character that you don’t see in most chain hotels, and once you’re inside, you realize they’ve done something pretty special here. The lobby feels more like a boutique hotel than what you’d typically expect, with these elegant touches that nod to Strasbourg’s Franco-German heritage without being too heavy-handed about it.
What really won me over was the location – and I know everyone says that, but hear me out. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the cathedral (I timed it), but you’re tucked away on this quieter street that doesn’t get the tourist foot traffic. The Petite France district is close enough that you can wander over for dinner without planning your whole evening around it, and if you’re into the European Parliament thing, it’s actually pretty accessible from here too. The rooms are… well, they’re comfortable without being flashy. I stayed in one facing the courtyard, which was smart because rue Kuhn can get a bit noisy during the day with delivery trucks and such. The beds are genuinely good – not that firm hotel standard that leaves you wondering if you slept on concrete. And you know what I appreciated? The bathroom actually had decent lighting and counter space, which seems like such a small thing until you’re trying to get ready in some cramped, dimly lit hotel bathroom elsewhere.
The breakfast situation is solid, though it gets pretty busy around 8:30 when the business travelers are heading out. If you can swing it, go a bit earlier or after 9:30 and you’ll actually enjoy it instead of fighting for the coffee machine. The staff genuinely seems to know the city well – the woman at reception gave me these spot-on restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist places. She steered me toward this incredible tarte flambée place about three blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Look, it’s not going to blow your mind or anything, but for what you pay (especially compared to some of the pricier spots closer to the cathedral), it’s a really solid choice. The whole place just feels… competent, I guess? Like they know what they’re doing and they care about doing it well. Plus, if you’re planning to explore beyond Strasbourg – maybe day trips to Colmar or into Germany – the location makes sense for getting around. I’d definitely stay here again, which is honestly my best test for any hotel.

Superb – Lula240 from United Arab Emirates – 25 July 2025 (9/10)
Great location, close to station but also walking distance to places you would want to visit. Room was a good size and a comfortable bed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a nice selection and a small kids corner which was nice for my 4 yr old.
Superb – Jdoiron from Canada – 24 July 2025 (9/10)
The staff were very helpful; they helped park the car and drive it out of their garage. The room seemed to be recently remodeled and was clean, well-appointed, and well air-conditioned. A bonus was the water station available near the lobby where we could fill up water bottles with still and sparkling water. The location was easy to drive to, and it was also easy for walking to restaurants in the area. While we did not get breakfast at the hotel, there were great cafes very near the hotel.
What could be improved: There wasn't anything that we found lacking/missing about the hotel.Superb – Schaap from Netherlands – 20 July 2025 (9/10)
Great location, very close to the centre, easy walking distance. There is a public parking building at a 5 minute walk. You're able to park in front of the hotel to unload your luggage.
Fantastic Hospitality! Highly recommend. – Mohsan from United Kingdom – 20 July 2025 (10/10)
Excellent hospitality! I've stayed in several 5+ star hotels and the team here from pre arrival to post have been accomodating, helpful and caring.
Rooms were delightful, super comfy bed, clean areas. Warm reception
Location, super easy to get around to main spots and station.
Will stay here again
What could be improved: Really nothing to criticise – only feedback is to update the liftsGreat experience! – Octavia from Romania – 20 July 2025 (10/10)
Everything was just great!
A great stay – Quentin from United Kingdom – 14 July 2025 (9/10)
This is a superb hotel in the perfect location and the staff were all delightful and willing to help.
What could be improved: The only little issue I had was with the bathroom as the bath was very narrow and the seal on the shower screen came off if you opened it and the shower, while being perfectly serviceable, was not great. However, everything was clean and everything else was excellent.Superb – Maris from Estonia – 12 July 2025 (9/10)
Excellent location, very efficient service, spacious and clear room, quiet as well.
Well run hotel in an excellent location – William from United Kingdom – 11 July 2025 (9/10)
There was a certain amount of internal renovation work going on at the time of our visit, but this did not unduly spoil our experience.
The room (on the first floor) was comfortable; with windows opening on to a sort of upstairs atrium. The only problem with this was that it didn’t feel entirely secure in terms of having windows open at night or when we were out. There were very effective shutters, however.
For a corporate hotel it has a surprisingly “homely” feeling; even if the décor might not be to everyone’s taste. Certainly quirky; might annoy some people. We particularly liked it because someone had clearly put some serious thought into their choices.
Easy access to the station, with at least one very good restaurant within easy striking distance, as well as easy walking distance into the city centre, and simple access to trams.
Breakfast was generally good – though I would advise against the pickled herring. I was interested to note that a certain amount of corporate muzak was on offer on my first morning – albeit quiet enough to be ignored, whilst, on the second morning, either someone had forgotten to turn it on, or it had been turned off as a matter of policy. Either way, we were glad to be able to eat breakfast in peace and quiet.
What could be improved: Nothing (apart from the pickled herring!)Lovely, quiet stay – Laura from Latvia – 10 July 2025 (8/10)
Cleanliness, accessibility, soundproofing of rooms, had a nice and quiet stay.
What could be improved: The room did feel quite small for two people for three days. The water pressure on floor 4 at least could be better (if possible at all).Excellent place to stay when visiting Strasbourg. – Rachel from Australia – 5 July 2025 (10/10)
The Hotel was modern, and very comfortable. Everything was clean, and the room was well equipped. The reception staff were super friendly, and helpful. There is a bar, with a nice area for lounging around or playing billiards.
It was a short walk from the train station, an easy walk with a big suitcase. I would definitely stay here again, if visiting Strasbourg.
What could be improved: Being so close to the train station is handy, but it didn’t feel very safe in the area, a lot of drunk sketchy people hanging in the streets. However, after stepping into the hotel, you soon forget about this factor.
