Honestly, when I first saw the name of this place – BEL APPARTEMENT CONTEMPORAIN avec TERRASSE CLIMATISATION et PARKING payant en option – I thought someone had just copy-pasted a real estate listing. But you know what? That’s actually pretty accurate to what you’re getting. This isn’t your typical hotel room; it’s more like staying in someone’s beautifully designed apartment, and I mean that in the best possible way.

The location on Presqu’île André-Malraux is sort of perfect if you want to be close to everything without being right in the tourist chaos. You’re basically on this little peninsula (hence “presqu’île”) that juts into the Rhine, which sounds fancy but really just means you get water views and it’s a pleasant 15-minute walk to Grande Île where all the main sights are. The modern architecture here is pretty striking – very different from the half-timbered houses you’ll see in the old town, but it works somehow. There’s actually a nice contrast walking between the two areas.

What really got me was the attention to detail inside. The air conditioning (which, trust me, you’ll appreciate during those surprisingly hot Alsatian summers) actually works properly, and the terrace – well, that’s where you’ll end up spending most of your evenings. I found myself having morning coffee out there, watching people cycle along the waterfront paths. The contemporary design isn’t cold or sterile like some modern places can be; there’s this warmth to it, maybe it’s the way the light comes in through those big windows. The parking situation is what it is – you pay extra, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for Strasbourg, and at least they have it available. I’ve stayed places here where you’re circling the block for an hour looking for a spot.

The 9.4 rating makes total sense once you’re there. It’s those little things that add up – the kitchen actually has proper equipment if you want to grab some munster cheese and local wine from the market, the shower has decent water pressure (surprisingly rare in France, let me tell you), and the whole place just feels… thoughtful. Like someone actually considered how people live and move through a space. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet at night, which is nice after a day of sightseeing, but you’re still close enough to hear the trams if you need to get somewhere quickly.

If I’m being completely honest, the only minor thing is that it can feel a bit isolated from the main city buzz – but that might be exactly what you’re looking for. Especially if you’re planning to explore beyond just Strasbourg itself, since you’re well-positioned for day trips into the Vosges or even across to Germany. The whole setup just works really well for people who want a proper base rather than just a place to crash between tourist activities.

    A spacious modern well equipped apartment in good location. And the air conditioning especially as we were there during a heatwave.

    What could be improved: The apartment has a really good sized balcony and gets sunshine most of the day but we were there during a heatwave and the canopy over the balcony didn’t give much shade from the intense sun. And the furniture in the balcony was a little uncomfortable. However these are only minor issues as most times you would welcome having a nice sunny balcony.

    A fantastic place to stay, only a 10/15min tram into the centre,with tram station outside the property. Multiple restaurants outside property also that were very good. Very clean with exceptional hosts who were on hand and very helpful with directions to property. The hosts were very friendly and made for a very pleasant stay. Would highly recommend staying here will definitely return🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

    Fantastic modern apartment. One of the best we've stayed in, and we are fortunate to be able to travel a lot. This apartment was well-decorated and well-appointed. A very useful fully-equipped kitchen. Everything was easy to use, and instructions were provided if needed. A separate washer and dryer in Europe – how awesome is that! Wi-fi was fantastic. Winston Churchill tram station literally downstairs from the building.

    What could be improved: Owner was responsive and provided clear instructions for entry. Pro-tip: don't rely on cell-service to pull up the instructions when you get there. I didn't take screenshots so pulled up the booking.com app to read the instructions, and the photos took forever to load because my coverage was too slow. The water pressure in the shower is okay, not super. Seriously though, this apartment would be 11/10 if that could somehow be resolved.

    We stayed for 2 nights and could not wish for better stay. Beautiful apartment, great host very responsive and helpful. Easy check in check out clear instructions. Very good location close to old city center (15minutes walk). Many restaurants, pharmacy, grocery store, backery and tram station in 50meters.

    The apartment was nicely furnished and very clean and it had a big balcony with a fantastic view. The neighbourhood was not noisy although it has some restaurants and cafes/bars around the corner. Parking was also very convenient. Hosts were great with communication.

    Great location, new apartment, secure, the tram stop is 1-2 minutes away. With this tram you can connect with other stations and go everywhere. There is a groceries shop 3 minutes from the door. The apartment had the necessary facilities for a quick meal or cook something in the oven/stove. The balcony has a great view in the river. Very close to a mall with fast food.

    What could be improved: Some small details with cleanliness, but nothing to affect the rating. We would appreciate if there was a shampoo for the bath and maybe some detergent to use the washing machine. We checked at the store for a small detergent but could not find one and did not worth buying a bottle for a singe wash. Also, the TV remote did not have batteries to switch in the TV.

    Excellent communications before arrival. Good apartment, nicely set out with good equipment and great view! Air conditioning unit very useful in 30+C heat! Optional Parking useful and easily accesssible. Having two case racks in the main bedroom – fantastic idea every host should adopt! Good location with Churchill Tram stop a few metres away, some food places, a city express supermarket nearby and a full shopping centre / Le Clerc a few minutes along the waterside.

    What could be improved: Our personal taste, we did not like the pillows (memory foam? too hot / firm) in the main bedroom overlooking the water
