Honestly, when I first saw the name “Bel appartement avec baignoire” I thought – well, that’s pretty straightforward French honesty for you. Beautiful apartment with a bathtub. And you know what? They weren’t kidding around.

This place sits on the fourth floor of a building on Rue Curie, and thank goodness there’s an elevator because after a full day wandering around Strasbourg’s cobblestone streets, the last thing you want is four flights of stairs. The location is actually brilliant – you’re right in the heart of things but on a side street that doesn’t get the tourist crowds stumbling back from the winstubs at midnight. I mean, you can walk to Place Kléber in maybe eight minutes, and the cathedral is close enough that you’ll hear the bells (which is charming at 9 AM, less so at 6 AM if you’re a light sleeper, but honestly, it’s Strasbourg – the bells are part of the experience).

What really got me was how the space feels so much bigger than typical European city apartments. The bathroom – and yes, that bathtub they mention in the name – is genuinely luxurious. After spending days walking through Petite France and climbing up to the cathedral platform, soaking in that tub while looking out at the Strasbourg rooftops was pretty much perfect. The whole place has this lived-in elegance that you don’t usually find in short-term rentals. Real artwork on the walls, books you might actually want to read, a kitchen stocked with proper cookware instead of those flimsy tourist-rental pans that can barely handle scrambling eggs.

The building itself has character – you know those classic Alsatian buildings with the gorgeous facades? This is one of them, but without the creaky floors and questionable plumbing you sometimes get with all that historic charm. Everything works exactly as it should, which honestly surprised me given how many “charming historic” places I’ve stayed in where charm was code for broken wifi and temperamental heating. The 9.6 rating makes total sense once you’re there – it’s the kind of place where someone clearly thought about what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos.

Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this neighborhood, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away, and really, you’ll want to park the car and forget about it anyway. Strasbourg is absolutely perfect for walking, and you’re positioned right where you can explore both the German Quarter with all its impressive architecture and the medieval center without feeling like you’re schlepping across the entire city. Plus – and this is something I only figured out on my second day – you’re really close to some excellent bakeries that the tour groups don’t know about. There’s this one place on Rue des Juifs that does incredible kougelhopf, and it’s basically around the corner.

The whole experience just felt… easy, I guess? Sometimes when you’re traveling, especially in a city as popular as Strasbourg, you spend half your energy dealing with accommodation issues. Here, you just settle in and focus on actually enjoying the city. Which, after all, is exactly what you came for.

  When we arrived at the property we were surprised that it was in a quite ugly looking block of apartments however our host Stephan met us on time to hand over the keys and show us around the apartment. Once inside the apartment our opinion changed. The apartment was excellent with every facility we could require presented in a clean and modern way. On arrival the heating was not functioning however Stephan immediately took action and the heating was back on very quickly – it looked like a teething problem with a new heating system.
  
  What could be improved: The apartment is not in a glamourous location both in terms of it's distance from the city centre and also its location in an ugly outdated block. The distance from the city is reflected in the cost of this apartment (the same apartment in the city centre would have been unaffordable for us) and the look of the block it is in is no issue as the apartment itself is excellent once you are inside.

  What could be improved: На подтверждении от Bookingcom было написано ,что выселение с 0.00 до 0.00.В результате из-за заезда следующих клиентов нам пришлось выехать раньше и коротать время в аэропорту. Это чистая ошибка Booking-и хозяин тут не причём.

  Чудесные апартаменты, очень хорошо оборудованы всем необходимым. Очень доброжелательные и гостеприимные владельцы. Хорошая транспортная доступность к центру и основным достопримечательностям, 15 минут на автобусе до вокзала. Рядом есть магазины, кафе.
