You know what really got me about this place? The moment you step into this studio in the Black Swans towers, you’re not just staying in some generic hotel room – you’re actually living in one of Strasbourg’s most interesting architectural experiments. I mean, these towers have this whole brutalist vibe that somehow works perfectly in this historic city, and honestly, the views from up there are something else entirely.

The studio itself is surprisingly spacious for what you’d expect, and that private terrace – well, that’s where the magic happens. I spent most of my evenings out there with a bottle of Riesling from the little Monoprix down on Rue du Faubourg National, watching the city settle into twilight. The Bassin d’Austerlitz neighborhood is sort of this perfect sweet spot where you’re close enough to walk to Petite France (maybe 15 minutes if you don’t get distracted by all the half-timbered houses), but far enough from the tourist crowds that you actually feel like you’re living somewhere real. The morning light hits the terrace just right around 8 AM, and you can hear the trams rumbling along Avenue des Vosges – it’s oddly comforting, actually.

What I really appreciated was how the space feels genuinely lived-in rather than sterile. The kitchen setup is thoughtful – proper coffee maker, decent knife for the cheese you’ll inevitably buy at the Marché des Bateliers, enough plates for when you decide to have people over because the terrace basically demands dinner parties. The building itself can be a bit maze-like when you first arrive (I definitely got turned around looking for the elevators), but the check-in process was smooth, and there’s decent parking in the area if you’re driving – though honestly, you won’t need a car much once you’re settled. The neighborhood has this great mix of students from the university and young professionals, so there’s always something happening at the little bars along Rue de Zurich, but it quiets down nicely by 11 PM. I found myself walking down to the riverfront most mornings just because it’s right there, and the whole area feels like this hidden corner of Strasbourg that most tourists completely miss. It’s the kind of place where you start planning your next visit before you’ve even checked out.

  1) Awesome location – 15 min from the bus station, 1 min from the tram station that will bring you to the Gare Centrale within 20 min or any other part of the city.
  2) Really beautiful view on Strasbourg. Two sides of the apparement are basically windows. Even when taking a shower, you can open a full wall window and enjoy the view on the city (being yourself covered by the mirror glass of the shower stall).
  3) Well equipped kitchen. Also, the iron and iron board were provided.
  4) Independence from any person in terms of checking in and out.
  5) My partner liked the idea of the bathroom being so close to the sleeping place, I find it pretty annoying, so to each their own.
  6) Huge cozy balcony.
  7) Fast reply of the responsible person regarding any questions related to the arriving / staying / departing.
  8) A lot of natural light, feels fresh and nice.
  
  What could be improved: 1) The bed. It is small for two people and very creaky. Also, pillows. Had to get rid of them and sleep on towels in order to be able to move the neck afterward.
  2) The lack of storage surfaces. The wardrobe at the entrance was more full of cleaning items and other (useful though) things, so there was almost no place to store my clothes properly.
  3) The finding key quest. Cool that we were independent, not cool actually looking for this small lock (especially in the middle of the night). Plus, I highly recommend to the agency to add the info about the actual entrance to the building. There are two of them, you need the second one from the tram station. Also, when you put the black pass key to the platform on the intercom, you will not hear or see any signs of it being accepted and the door being unlocked.
  4) The leaking shower stall. No matter how hard we tried, it was always a puddle on the floor after taking a shower.
  5) Personally, I don't like when the payment is not thorough the Booking.com platform, doesn't feel safe for me.
  6) As said before, the door to the bathroom. First of all, it is made out of glass, and the door handle is just a hole in it. So absolutely no sound isolation. Second, it is very loud, especially during the night when another person is sleeping in bed. And, of course, its position – it slides behind the bed, so literally behind the head of someone lying down.

  Le studio est agréable, très lumineux, avec une vue dégagée sur la ville et à deux pas du tram. La cuisine est bien équipée. Le petit fond d'épicerie a été très apprécié!

  Die Aussicht vom 16.Stock ist ausserordentlich. Aber auch der Wind auf der Terrasse wenn es unten brütend heiss wird. Die Architektur der Hochhäuser ist sehr interessant.
