Hotel Description

Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Appartements Paola, Pamela, Patricia et Pascale,” I thought someone was just having fun with alliteration. But these four apartment-style units right on Place du Vieux Marché aux Vins turned out to be exactly what I needed for my week in Strasbourg. You know that feeling when you stumble onto a place that’s not trying too hard but just gets it right? That’s this spot.

The location is actually incredible – I mean, you’re literally on the old wine market square, which sounds touristy but honestly feels more like living in the heart of where Strasbourg actually happens. You’ll hear the cathedral bells (trust me, you will), and it’s maybe a three-minute walk to those Instagram-famous timber houses everyone posts about. But here’s what the guidebooks don’t tell you: Place du Vieux Marché aux Vins is where locals still grab their morning coffee before the tourists wake up. There’s this little bakery – I think it’s called Au Pain de Mon Grand-Père – right around the corner where the woman behind the counter remembered my order by day three. The apartments themselves are sort of no-frills but comfortable, with those thick stone walls that keep things cool in summer and (presumably) warm in winter. Each one has its own personality – I stayed in what I think was Patricia’s place, which had this quirky little kitchenette tucked under a sloped ceiling that made me feel like I was camping, but in a good way.

What really won me over was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re right in the center of everything. The square empties out after dinner, and you get this peaceful medieval vibe that makes you forget there are trams running just a few blocks away. Parking was actually manageable – there’s a public garage about five minutes’ walk that won’t completely destroy your budget, though I’d definitely recommend just taking the train into Strasbourg if you can. The 7.5 rating makes sense to me; it’s not luxury, but it’s got character and the kind of authentic feel that a lot of hotels try to fake. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no corporate nonsense, just someone who clearly cares about the place handing you keys and giving you the real scoop on where to eat. If you’re the type who wants marble bathrooms and room service, keep looking. But if you want to actually feel like you’re living in Strasbourg for a few days rather than just visiting it, these apartments nail it.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Strasbourg at least two months ahead of their visit to ensure availability and secure better rates, especially during the peak December season when the city hosts its world-famous Christmas celebrations.

Reviews

  • Superb – Riikka from Finland – 1 June 2025 (9/10)

Beautiful, confortable appartment. Ok walking distance grom the trains and notre dame, etc in the other direction

What could be improved: Very hot in the upstairs sleeping area, cooling system seemed to have run out of batteries. Good to fix it for when it gets even hotter.

  • Good – Riccardo from Belgium – 10 October 2024 (7/10)

    Spacious and clean

What could be improved: It was a little run down: there was a leak in the bathroom and from the kitchen window.

  • Very cozy and well located – Silvia from Brazil – 26 December 2023 (9/10)

It’s very cute, super well located and close to city center. Walkable from and to the main train station. Well equipped kitchen with microwave, stove and toster. Also have kitchen appliances.

What could be improved: It’s on the 4th floor and the stairs are very narrow and spiral which make carrying big suitcases up and down very difficult. I’m not sure if it’s described in the listing that and I didn’t notice. If it’s not, I recommend the owner to do it because it makes a difference since there are other apartments in lower levels

  • We would come back, just careful about the coffee 🙂 – Luca from Italy – 6 October 2024 (8/10)

Great location, nice apartment. Small but cozy and space well used for a few days.

What could be improved: The drip coffee maker must be replaced, it was disgustingly dirty in the water tank. Stains and dust. Thankfully we saw it before making the first coffee. Even after cleaning it ourselves, some dirt remained as crust inside it. Just unacceptable.
In general, the kitchen was not very clean

  • Superb – Alexandru from Romania – 31 October 2022 (9/10)

Excelent location, really close to the main station and the old town, the apartament had everything needed for a pleasent stay.

What could be improved: The fact that the bathroom was located in the bedroom was a little incovenient for those sleeping in the living room.

  • Good – Magdalena from Poland – 19 September 2022 (7/10)

Great location, very central. Easy access to the old town.. The owner responsive and helpful. You can use public parking (not clean at all but not the owner's fault) and he gives the discount card. Convenient self check in

What could be improved: The flat is much simpler that in the pictures It has everything as per description but the look is simple.

  • Besides the linen issue it was great, Strasbourg is an amazing place. – Mark from Zimbabwe – 13 December 2023 (6/10)

The location is absolutely fantastic, could not be better. Apartment is literally a few hundred meters from everything.

What could be improved: The fact that there is NO bed linen!! I have never been to stay at any accommodation before that does not have bed Linen, we were told to bring our own but we’re already travelling. Oh and no towels provided.

  • Good location, clean and comfy in the room, the way to the room (stairs) is a bit difficult. – Nutta from Thailand – 11 December 2023 (8/10)

The apartment is clean and comfy. I was nervous about the cleaness because the reviews but it is clean. The kitchen smells but it is ok. The lighting is good for your sleep and the owner is very nice. You can actually fit 6 people (we were in Pascal on the 4th floor) there are 1 queen bed and twin beds and 2 sofa where you can sleep. Toilette and shower room are separated. There is also a dining table. It was warm. It was clean. It was ok.

What could be improved: It was on the 4th floor with a tiny stairs. For senior ppl, it was not recommended. Also it is really hard to carried your luggage on the stairs. Also there was no mattress and towel, you have to bring your own.

  • Good – Adelle from South Africa – 9 January 2023 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: It was not clean at all. Staircase a bit unpleasant for travelers

  • Perfect! – Enrique from Peru – 23 December 2023 (10/10)

Perfect location. A cozy, equipped accommodation, good heating, a hot spring, and a comfortable bed. Just bring sheets and towels, but that doesn't mean it was excellent. Thank you so much.
