Hotel Description

You know what surprised me most about Appartements Le 32? It’s actually tucked away on this narrow cobblestone street that feels completely separate from tourist Strasbourg, but you’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral. I mean, Rue de l’Ail isn’t exactly where you’d expect to find a sleek apartment hotel – it’s more residential, with these beautiful old Alsatian buildings that locals clearly take pride in maintaining. The entrance is understated (honestly, I walked past it twice the first time), but once you’re inside, it’s this perfect blend of contemporary design and respect for the building’s character.

The apartments themselves feel like someone’s stylish friend let you crash at their place, not some sterile hotel room. Each one’s laid out differently – mine had these gorgeous original wooden beams and a kitchen that was actually functional, not just for show. The bathroom had this rainfall shower that, well, let’s just say I took longer showers than necessary. What I really appreciated was the attention to small details that matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night or two. Proper hangers in the closet, decent lighting for reading, a coffee machine that doesn’t require an engineering degree to operate. The soundproofing is solid too – you might hear the occasional late-night conversation from the street, but it adds to the neighborhood charm rather than keeping you awake.

Here’s the thing about the location that booking sites don’t really capture: you’re in this authentic slice of Strasbourg where people actually live and work. There’s a fantastic boulangerie literally around the corner on Rue des Tonneliers where locals line up every morning (get there before 9 AM or the good croissants are gone). The Krutenau district is right there too, which honestly feels more genuine than the main tourist areas – great little bistros, vintage shops, and you can walk along the Ill River when you need a break from cobblestones. Parking can be tricky in the immediate area, but there’s a public garage about three blocks away that won’t break the bank. The staff knows the neighborhood inside and out, so definitely ask them for recommendations – they steered me toward this incredible winstub that I never would have found otherwise. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re experiencing Strasbourg rather than just visiting it, if that makes sense.

Reviews

  • This is an amazing apartment close to everything. – Mary from United Kingdom – 19 July 2025 (10/10)

The location was amazing! So close to everything, right outside our doorstep.

What could be improved: No air con. We thought it did have it and it was quite warm to sleep at night even with the fan provided. There was only one window in one side of the flat so there was no possible cross breeze. This was the only down side.

  • Lovely.reception staff were great – Claire from United Kingdom – 17 July 2025 (9/10)

    Lovely spacious clean room.

What could be improved: Disable bathroom a bit odd. Couldn’t work tv.

  • Simply superb! – Janelle from Australia – 19 June 2025 (10/10)

Exceptional accommodation! Catherine met us onsite, diligently went through the apartment, which was the best equipped self contained accommodation I have ever stayed in. The location was superb.

  • Exceptional – Svetlana from Russia – 16 June 2025 (10/10)

    – great location near Notre Dam
    – apartment is equipped with everything you might need
    – very clean and brand new furniture
    – the owner was very nice as we came earlier for check in

What could be improved: – a bit noisy at night

  • Very good – Sandra from Malta – 15 June 2025 (8/10)

Fantastic location right in the middle of the town and very clean

What could be improved: It s a basement with very little light

  • Great location, noisy during the night though – Nataliia from Germany – 7 June 2025 (9/10)

Apartments are located quite in the heart of old town. Room is very clean. Owners were very attentive and friendly.

What could be improved: Next to the apartment building there are two extremely noisy bars, during football championship do not expect to sleep there until 5am. But on the other hand in the centre and good price

  • Very good – Barry from United States – 24 May 2025 (8/10)

Great location. Rooms large and comfortable. Excellent communication with the host

What could be improved: The knock, and it’s not really in the property’s control is that there is a popular bar a few doors down that emits loud and constant sleep-interrupting noise until around 3 AM each night. Problem was made better sleeping with ear plugs

  • The room was very small. The picture shown is deceiving because you can’t have a table and a bed fully unfolded in such – Ibis from Canada – 18 May 2025 (7/10)

    The location.

What could be improved: Room size.
Outdoor noise. Would suggest to provide ear plugs so guests can sleep at night
Shelves in the bathroom would be very helpful too.

  • Superb – Tatiana from Germany – 28 April 2025 (9/10)

Very good location. Well equipped apartment. Immaculately clean. Clear instructions.

  • Exceptional – Shanshan from Germany – 20 April 2025 (10/10)

Perfect location. Clean and modern, enough space.
