The moment I stepped out onto Rue du Saumon, I realized I was literally in the thick of everything that makes Strasbourg magical – but somehow without the tourist chaos you’d expect. This spacious apartment sits right in the heart of the old town, and I mean *right* in it. You’re a two-minute walk from the cathedral (which, honestly, never gets old), but tucked away on a quieter street where you can actually hear yourself think.

The apartment itself is genuinely spacious – not that fake “spacious” you see in listings where they mean “we fit a chair in the corner.” I’m talking about room to spread out your stuff, maybe do some morning stretches without knocking over a lamp. The windows face the street, and while you’ll catch some of the usual old-town sounds (delivery trucks in the morning, the occasional late-night reveler), it’s actually pretty peaceful most of the time. The building has that classic Alsatian charm – you know, the kind with thick walls that keep things cool in summer and cozy when it’s gray and drizzly outside. Which, let’s be real, happens more than the tourism board likes to admit.

What really won me over was how the owner clearly gets what travelers actually need. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen (revolutionary concept, I know), and the shower has decent water pressure – honestly, these details matter more than fancy artwork on the walls. The location is just ridiculous in the best way possible. You can walk to Petite France in maybe eight minutes, grab morning pastries from the boulangerie that’s basically around the corner, and if you’re into the whole Christmas market scene, you’re right there when December rolls around. But here’s the thing locals know – even when the markets are packed with tourists, this little pocket of streets stays relatively sane. I actually enjoyed my evening walks, weaving through the cobblestone streets back to the apartment after dinner at one of those cozy winstubs nearby.

The 4-star rating makes sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be some luxury palace, but everything works well and feels thoughtfully arranged. Plus, that 9-point rating from other guests? Yeah, I get it now. Sometimes you find a place that just hits all the right notes without trying too hard, and this apartment does exactly that. It’s the kind of spot where you actually want to come back after a day of wandering around, maybe pick up some local wine and cheese, and just settle in like you live there for a few days.

  Fantastic apartment in the middle of everything that made a nice base for our first time in the Alsace region. Perfect for our family with plenty of space. The apartment was very clean and had everything we could have asked for.

  The location is amazing – in easy walking distance of all the main things we wanted to see in Strasbourg and very convenient for the trams to and from the station. The apartment is really spacious, as described, and well equipped. A couple of concerns on our arrival were dealt with very quickly by the host.
