Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw “Appartement rue Hatt” on the booking site, I wasn’t expecting much from what seemed like just another apartment rental in Strasbourg. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming places surprise you the most, and this little spot on Rue Hatt absolutely did that for me.

The thing about staying here is that you’re properly in a real Strasbourg neighborhood, not some touristy bubble. Rue Hatt itself is this quiet residential street where you’ll actually hear French conversations drifting from windows instead of constant tour groups – which, honestly, was exactly what I needed after a few too many overcrowded city centers. The apartment sits in one of those classic Alsatian buildings that just feels solid, you know? Thick walls that actually keep noise out (thank goodness), and windows that open wide enough to let in those amazing cooking smells from the boulangerie around the corner. I mean, waking up to the scent of fresh croissants isn’t the worst way to start your morning in France.

What really won me over was how the place strikes that perfect balance between having everything you actually need without trying to be fancy about it. The kitchen is small but functional – I made coffee there every morning and even managed a simple dinner one night with ingredients from the Monoprix down the street. The bathroom has one of those European showers that’s actually decent (you travelers know what I’m talking about), and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for what I’m guessing is an IKEA mattress. There’s something refreshing about a place that doesn’t pretend to be a luxury hotel but just does the basics really well. Plus, and this matters more than you’d think, the WiFi actually works consistently – I had video calls with zero issues, which honestly puts it ahead of some four-star places I’ve stayed.

The location is genuinely great without being obvious about it. You’re close enough to walk to Petite France in about fifteen minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the evening crowds stumbling past your windows. There’s a tram stop maybe three blocks away that’ll get you to the cathedral area quickly, though honestly, I found myself walking most places because the streets in this part of town are just pleasant for wandering. Parking was… well, it’s Strasbourg, so street parking is what it is, but I managed to find spots within a reasonable walk most days. The check-in process was smooth – the owner met me right on time and gave me some solid local recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist spots. Actually, the little wine bar he suggested on Rue de Zurich became my go-to evening spot by the end of the week.

  What could be improved: Le canapé lit utilisé comme lit pour les deux autres personnes est archaïque ,inconfortable et indigne. Dotez vous d’un canapé lit confortable et moderne, solide et bien rembourré. Pour le prix que vous demandez. Pensez aux coussins : il doivent être plus rembourrés. Trop plats à mon goût . Vous pouvez ajouter des coussins supplémentaires pour ceux qui désirent dormir de façon demi-assise ou faire de la lecture dans leur lit.
