Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Strasbourg apartments, and Appartement Le Männele on Rue du Poitou is honestly one of those places that gets everything right without trying too hard. The address might not ring a bell if you’re not familiar with the city, but you’re basically tucked into this quiet residential pocket that’s maybe a 12-minute walk from the cathedral – close enough that you’ll hear the bells if your windows are open, but far enough that you won’t be dodging tour groups every time you step outside.
The thing that struck me first was how the place actually feels like someone’s home rather than a sterile rental. I mean, sure, it’s clearly set up for guests, but there’s this lived-in quality that makes you want to kick back with a book instead of rushing out to tick off sightseeing boxes. The apartment itself is surprisingly spacious – and I say surprising because Strasbourg’s old quarter can be pretty cramped. You’ve got proper room to spread out your stuff, which honestly makes such a difference when you’re staying more than a couple nights. The kitchen is actually functional too, not just some token setup with a broken coffee maker. I ended up grabbing fresh bread from the boulangerie down the street most mornings because, well, when in Alsace, right?
What really won me over was the neighborhood vibe. Rue du Poitou sits in this sweet spot where you’re surrounded by locals doing their daily thing – kids heading to school, people walking their dogs, that sort of authentic city rhythm you can’t manufacture. There’s a small park nearby where I’d see the same group of older guys playing pétanque every afternoon around 4 PM, and honestly, those are the moments that make a trip memorable. The tram stop is close enough (maybe 5 minutes on foot) that getting around is dead simple, but the street itself stays pretty quiet. I was there in late spring and slept with the windows cracked – just the occasional car, nothing that’ll keep you up. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving, but that’s Strasbourg for you. The host was straightforward about check-in, no drama there, and actually gave me a couple of restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps. One was this tiny winstub that I never would’ve found on my own – the kind of place where locals argue about football over their choucroute. That 9.1 rating makes total sense to me because it’s the details that matter: good water pressure, reliable WiFi, and that intangible feeling that you’ve landed somewhere special rather than just convenient.

Apartment was very clean and located in a quiet and green neighbourhood, near tram station directly leading to city center, hosts promptly responding to inquiries, ready to help if needed
Exceptional – Geophrey from Australia – 27 April 2025 (10/10)
We stayed for 5 nights and were impressed with the facilities and equipment provided. Over several years of travelling and staying in apartments, we have often found a lack of basics, e.g. cooking utensils, pots and pans etc. Not so at Le Menelle. The apartment is very close to a tram stop and it is a short journey of 15-20 minutes into the city centre. It is also very near a large hypermarket which is great for food shopping. Access to the apartment is via keys in a key lock, access to which was very well explained and presented no difficulties at all. If visiting Strasbourg, we suggest you seriously consider booking Le Menelle if it is available.
Great place as a base to explore Strasbourg. Shame we only had one night. – Simon from Australia – 8 January 2025 (10/10)

Great place, less than 15 minutes from the city centre and one minute from the tram station. Looks EXACTLY like the pictures and feels safe, comfortable and clean. The lady who owns it assisted us when we got locked out on christmas eve, and was exceptionally understanding and helpful. If you want to see Strasbourg, I recommend you stay here!
