You know what struck me first about Appartement Esplanade? It’s tucked away on this quiet residential street that feels completely removed from the tourist chaos, but you’re actually just a few minutes’ walk from everything that matters in Strasbourg. Rue Jean-Henri-Schnitzler isn’t one of those streets you’d stumble across by accident – which is honestly part of its charm. The building itself has that solid, no-nonsense French apartment feel, and when I first walked up, I thought “well, this looks promising” in that understated way good places often do.

The apartment setup here is what really sets it apart from your typical hotel experience. I mean, you get actual space to spread out – a proper living area where you can dump your bags without playing Tetris, and a kitchen that’s more than just a mini-fridge and sad coffee maker. The 8.8 rating makes total sense once you’re inside because everything just works the way it should. The Wi-Fi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, the shower has decent water pressure (trust me, this matters more than you think when you’ve been walking cobblestones all day), and the beds are actually comfortable instead of those rock-hard European mattresses that make you question your life choices. The decor won’t win any design awards – it’s sort of modern-functional with some local touches – but it feels lived-in rather than sterile, which I actually prefer.

What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re still properly in the city. The street doesn’t get much through traffic, so you’re not dealing with delivery trucks rumbling past at 6 AM or late-night revelers stumbling home. During the day, you can walk to the cathedral in about fifteen minutes if you take the scenic route through some of the prettier residential areas, or honestly, just grab the tram if you’re feeling lazy – there’s a stop pretty close by. The Petite France area is maybe twenty minutes on foot, and if you’re planning to explore some of the wine bars in the old town, you can actually walk home instead of figuring out night buses or expensive taxis. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle if you’re driving – this is old Strasbourg, so the streets weren’t exactly designed with cars in mind – but there are options nearby if you’re willing to walk a block or two. I’d definitely recommend this place if you want that local apartment feeling without sacrificing the reliability you expect from a good accommodation. It’s the kind of spot where you can actually settle in for a few days and feel like you’re living in Strasbourg rather than just passing through.

  The apartment is very small, good for one or two person travel, the bathroom was very well equipped, as well as the small kitchenette. The host was also very helpful and prompt.

  Clean and cosy apartments. Owner is very friendly and helpful. Bus and train stops are near, easy to reach the centre.

  Overall the apartment and the host were perfect! Best things: the bathroom was top notch, the host was most friendly and helpful, the location was just opposite of the tram (5 minutes to town centre with it) and last but not least the bonus enigma game hidden in the room!!!

  Nice, clean and cozy apartment! We only stayed one night, but the apartment had everything one may need. We especially liked the big screen TV. There are some interesting smart features in the apartment, e.g. contactless sensor toilet flush and sensor soap dispenser. A free spot on a parking lot (accessible with a remote control) is provided.
  The interior design is also really nice!
  The apartment is a 20 minute walk away from the city center, and there is also a tram station directly in front of the door.

  The fact that the apartment is well maintained and has the necessary amenities. The big screen TV is a plus.

  I would prefer to receive information about how to access the place in written in advance and not have to call to get the information.
  That said, the owners were reeacheable and genuinely helped or tried to help.
  Strasbourg is a beautiful city. The area where this apartment is is not. It's an area of tall blocks of flats and parking lots.
