Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed at a lot of places in Strasbourg over the years, and this little apartment on Rue des Orphelins really surprised me. I mean, when you see “5 minutes from the cathedral” in a listing, you usually roll your eyes because it’s never actually 5 minutes, right? But honestly – I timed it. Four and a half minutes at a normal walking pace, and you’re standing in front of that incredible Gothic masterpiece.
The apartment itself is one of those converted buildings where they’ve managed to keep the old Alsatian character while actually making the air conditioning work properly (which, trust me, is harder to find than you’d think in this part of Europe). The street is quiet enough that you won’t hear much traffic, but you’re still right in the heart of everything. I actually loved that you could grab fresh bread from the boulangerie literally next door – the smell of croissants drifting up in the morning was pretty perfect. What really sold me on the place was how the owner had clearly thought about what travelers actually need. There’s proper counter space in the kitchen, the shower has decent water pressure, and they’ve got blackout curtains that actually block the light. You know what’s funny? The building entrance looks a bit underwhelming from the street, but once you’re inside, it feels much more spacious and well-maintained than you’d expect.
The location is honestly ideal if you want to explore Strasbourg on foot. You’re a two-minute walk from Place Kléber where all the trams converge, so getting to the European Quarter or Petite France is effortless. But here’s something most visitors don’t realize – you’re also perfectly positioned for the Saturday morning market at Place du Marché aux Poissons, which locals swear by for the best produce and cheese. I spent way too much money there, but it was worth it. The neighborhood has that perfect mix where you feel like you’re living among actual Strasbourgeois, not just trapped in a tourist bubble. There’s a wine bar called Le Troquet des Kneckes about three doors down that stays open late and serves fantastic Alsatian wines – the kind of place you’d never find without stumbling across it. Parking can be tricky if you’re driving (most of the nearby spots are resident-only), but the tram system is so efficient that you really don’t need a car once you’re there. The 8.8 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises without any unpleasant surprises.

Cute apartment close to all attractions – Sofía from Germany – 21 July 2025 (8/10)
The apartment is super cute and comfortable for four people. The beds are comfortable and it is very nice that they leave coffee, snacks and water.
Location is amazing. The check in was super smooth, you just grab the keys from a lock box next to the main entrance. I would stay again!
What could be improved: It was very clean but lacking some detailed cleaning (the towel heater was covered in dust, we couldn't use it). The entrance looks sketchy, but nothing to worry about, just worth mentioning.
Would have appreciated a heads up that people need to wait some time between showers because you need to wait until the water gets warm again, otherwise you'll shower with very cold water. We really enjoyed our stay in Strasburg a beautiful city with lot definitely recommend visiting – Barbara from United Kingdom – 24 June 2025 (8/10)
Great central location with good public bus and tram transport links but especially for us when we needed to get and from the railway station with our luggage.
Very good – Caro from United Kingdom – 14 June 2025 (8/10)
Clean, comfortable, great location, good communications
What could be improved: Was perfect for one night stay, would have felt small for longerExcellent location! – Sandra from United Kingdom – 31 March 2025 (10/10)
It was a pleasant stay. We have been well informed ahead of the stay about the key collection, available facilities, check-in times, etc. The apartment was clean and tidy and we had everything we needed. The location is excellent and within walking distance from the most popular tourist places as well as grocery shops, bakeries, cafes and lovely restaurants.
Beautiful apartment in great location – Karen from South Africa – 13 January 2025 (9/10)
Beautifully renovated modern apartment
Comfortable for 4 people.
Perfect location within walking distance to all the attractions and close to a bus stop.
Restaurants and shopping are close by
Owner was very responsive to sort out the power that was tripping. Problem was sorted out quickly.
What could be improved: The entrance to the apartment could be upgraded to match the beautiful interiorExcellent petite apartment base to explore Strasbourg – Lianne from New Zealand – 8 May 2025 (9/10)
The location was amazing for visiting the old part of Strasbourg. It was conveniently located near restaurants and shops where you could get groceries. Comfortable beds and good shower. Well equipped kitchen. Coffee machine. Nicely set up and decorated. Easy access through key lock box arrangement, which worked well. Owner was communicative and available if needed. Compact bathroom worked for us. TV with Netflix and WiFi worked well.
What could be improved: The cover on the sofa was stained. Quite hot and lacking some airflow as the apartment retained heat even though it was cool outside. The room by the street was quite noisy as people were walking by and talking at all hours. It did not seem to have double glazing to block out street noise. Steep stairs to the upstairs might be a challenge for elderly or infirm.Good – Michael from Israel – 11 July 2025 (7/10)
The location was in the center. The apartment was nice looking and easy to reach.
What could be improved: Could be cleaner.
One of the tiles in the bathroom was broken and held with duck tape.
The apartment is located on a street that is being renovated so full on worksite. At 8 am the workers started.Comfortable apartment in excellent location, better for one or two day stays. – Bernardo from Australia – 27 December 2024 (7/10)
Easy self-check in with key-box. Amazing location. Comfortable bed. Very accomodating host.
What could be improved: The apartment is a bit odd in its room distribution, with a very little living room, and the entrance is through the back of a bouillon, that they use as storage. The apartment works perfectly fine for a short stay, but for longer stays it may not be suitable. Also, given these details, price could be a bit lower.Very good – Anne-sophie from France – 5 July 2025 (8/10)
Très bien situé et agencé. Confortable et bien décoré. La chambre principale sur l’arrière très calme et la literie agréable.
What could be improved: Le bruit dans la 2eme chambre sur rue, notamment lié aux travaux dans la rue pendant notre séjour.Exceptional – Rafael from Spain – 5 July 2025 (10/10)
Ubicación, comodidad.
Limpio, moderno y con muchos detalles para facilitar una grata estancia.
What could be improved: Nada
