Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about this place? The location is absolutely killer – I mean, you’re literally on Rue du Fossé-des-Tanneurs, which sounds fancy but it’s actually this narrow cobblestone street that feels like you’ve stepped back in time. The apartment sits right in the heart of Strasbourg’s old town, and honestly, you can’t get much more central than this. I could walk to Place Kléber in about three minutes, and the famous cathedral spire was practically peeking over the rooftops from the window.
The 2P setup (that’s French for two-room, by the way) actually works really well – it’s not huge, but it’s smartly laid out in that European way where every square meter counts. The “Homme de fer” part of the name refers to the nearby tram stop, which locals know as the main hub where all the tram lines meet. Super handy, actually, because you can get anywhere in the city from there. What I loved most was how quiet it got at night despite being so central – these old buildings have thick walls, and the street doesn’t get the party crowd like some of the touristy areas do. The morning sounds were kind of charming though… church bells, the occasional delivery truck on cobblestones, people chatting in French and Alsatian dialect as they headed to work.
The space itself feels authentically Strasbourg – you’ve got those tall windows with the old-style shutters, and the interior strikes a nice balance between keeping some historic character and being actually functional for modern travelers. I appreciated little things like having a proper kitchen setup (not just a hot plate situation) and decent Wi-Fi, which isn’t always a given in these older buildings. The building entrance is one of those classic European affairs where you need the code to get in, but once you’re inside, everything feels secure and well-maintained. Parking is… well, it’s city center parking, so don’t expect miracles, but there’s a public garage about a five-minute walk away if you’re driving. Honestly though, you probably won’t need a car much – the best parts of Strasbourg are all walkable from here, and the tram system is excellent. The rating of 8 feels about right – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what you want from a centrally located apartment in a city like this. Perfect for people who want to actually live in Strasbourg for a few days rather than just pass through.

loved the city of Strasbourg. – Souad from Switzerland – 26 August 2024 (8/10)
Locations,
What could be improved: a bit noisySuperb – Nicola from Ireland – 2 December 2023 (9/10)
Clean, modern and great location!
What could be improved: The sofa bed could have been made before we arrived, but apart from that no negatives!Good weekend stay in Strasbourg – Aamit from France – 25 November 2022 (7/10)
The location of the apartment is great, all touristic attraction is at walkable distance. The apartment is nice for a short stay. There are many good restaurants within 500 meters from the apartment.
What could be improved: The whole check-in process doesn't work. When I reached the apartment and called the number it didn't open the door, then I reached out to the host and he asked me to collect keys from another apartment box in the same street. The wifi and password is not correct, I have shared the correct wifi name and password with the host. The apartment is bit noisy and you can hear noise from street and tram station. Also, one minus point is you can't leave your luggage before 14h check-in time, as in many airbnb and hotels , you can just leave your luggage and go to the city and come back to do the check-in at time.Nice. Get what you pay for. Could easily be better with more communication and – Chris from Australia – 30 December 2024 (6/10)
Location perf cut as it’s right in the center of town
What could be improved: Check process could be better. Also zero response when we asked for assistance and for a translation in English.
Television didn’t work.Convenient, comfortable but fairly noisy because of the trams – Helen from United Kingdom – 18 October 2024 (6/10)
The location was very good, right next to Homme de Fer tram station, which was also a drawback given the trams run very frequently at this interchange! The apartment was clean and had the facilities you'd expect. The bed was comfortable, the apartment was warm and there was plenty of hot water and storage space. The smell of baking pastries from nearby was divine each morning.
What could be improved: There were some items that needed repair or better cleaning – the shelves by the bed were almost hanging off the wall, the shower was dirty, the kitchen pans and crockery had seen better days. Being close to the tram station meant there was quite a bit of noise, both from trams and from people gathering in the area. The lift to the apartment didn't work on one occasion, and it's 6 flights of stairs up. The instructions to collect the keys could be better – it wasn't easy to identify the place where they were kept.Good location, not so good service as not prepared as booked. – Vanessa from Germany – 20 August 2023 (6/10)
The property was in a great position as you could reach all sights by foot.
What could be improved: We booked for 3 people. But the bed was only made for 2. We had to prepare the sleeping couch out selves. For this we first had to search for sheets and blankets and then prepare the bed. Which was not that great as we saw the dirty mattress. This could easily be availed by preparing the apartment for us as booked for 3 people.Pleasant – Hellweg from Belgium – 3 April 2024 (6/10)
flat was fine
What could be improved: noise from neighbours and outside, but things got quieter around midnightLow quality! – Schmid from Germany – 3 October 2022 (4/10)
The Interieur was some tasteful. The location was great.
What could be improved: The whole check-in process didn't really work.
You are supposed to call a number which upposedly opens the door… Well. It doesn't.
On the other hand it says you are supposed to collect a key from another address. Well, no key at the other address…
So after one hour of waiting another person left the building and I entered.
Still no idea how to enter the flat. There is a pin, but no explanation what to do with the pin…
All of the "check in manual" is in French. Even after asking for an English version, I was not provided with one.
The translator of booking.com makes some substantial errors…
After over an hour I was finally entering the flat.
The WiFi had a completely different name to the one provided.
The password of the WiFi had a couple of mistakes…
Coming to the flat.
The design is somewhat appealing. But the Interieur itself is the cheapest of the cheapest…
Many uncleaned crevices in the bath and holes in the door make it suboptimal. Furthermore just one hook in the bathroom…
And on top. It is a very loud apartment. Especially the noise of the street is not properly insulated.
Cannot recommend it!Disgust – Anna from Luxembourg – 3 April 2024 (4/10)
What could be improved: The bathroom door is broken, the closet is broken, the table is scuffed, dirty bed linen . There's a hole between the rooms, it's not two separate rooms
Emplacement parfait, petit studio bien agencé – Oumaima from Morocco – 7 April 2025 (9/10)
