This two-bedroom apartment sits on Rue de Châtenois, which is actually in a pretty sweet spot where you get that residential French vibe without being stuck way out in the suburbs.

The apartment itself has this lived-in feel that I really appreciated – not sterile like some of those cookie-cutter hotel rooms, but actually comfortable. The bedrooms are a decent size (well, decent for European standards anyway), and there’s enough space in the common areas that you don’t feel like you’re tripping over each other if you’re traveling with family or friends. What I loved is how quiet it gets at night – Rue de Châtenois isn’t one of those main thoroughfares, so you’re not dealing with trams rattling by at all hours. The kitchen’s properly equipped too, which matters if you want to grab some of that incredible produce from the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons and actually do something with it.

Location-wise, you’re maybe a fifteen-minute walk to Petite France – honestly, it’s the perfect distance where you can easily get to all the touristy stuff but you’re not paying tourist-area prices for everything. There’s a decent boulangerie just around the corner on Rue de Molsheim, and if you head toward Avenue de Colmar, you’ll hit some proper local spots that most visitors never find. The tram connection is solid too – you can catch the line that’ll get you to the European Parliament if that’s your thing, or just use it to explore different neighborhoods without dealing with parking headaches. I stayed here during late spring, and honestly, the whole area comes alive when the weather’s nice – people actually use their balconies, kids play in the small parks nearby, and it feels like you’re getting a real slice of how Strasbourg locals live. The 8.4 rating makes sense to me – it’s not luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want.

  What could be improved: From the moment we arrived, we were watched by a group of Men in the apartment block, from taking our luggage in from the car, up the stairs and into the apartment. We had our 2 year old Son with us and felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. The passage to the apartment smelled of sewerage and there was dirty linen left on the desk in one room. We took all our luggage back to the car and booked another place to stay.
