Hotel Description
Look, I’ve stayed in my fair share of Strasbourg apartments, and this two-bedroom place on Rue du Faubourg-de-Pierre honestly surprised me. You know that feeling when you’re expecting something decent but not spectacular, and then you walk in and think “okay, this actually works”? That’s exactly what happened here.
The location is what really sold me on it – I mean, you’re literally a five-minute walk from the cathedral, but you’re tucked away on this quieter street that doesn’t get the tourist chaos. Faubourg-de-Pierre has this lived-in neighborhood vibe where you’ll see locals heading to the boulangerie in the morning, not just groups with selfie sticks. The tram stop at Porte de l’Hôpital is right there too, which is clutch if you want to explore beyond the old town without dealing with parking (and honestly, don’t even think about bringing a car into the Petite France area).
What I really appreciated was how the place felt like an actual home rather than some sterile rental property. The two bedrooms are properly sized – not those cramped European “bedrooms” that barely fit a double bed – and the kitchen actually has everything you need if you want to grab stuff from the Saturday market at Place du Marché aux Poissons. The whole apartment gets great natural light, especially in the morning, though fair warning: you’ll hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper. Nothing terrible, just the usual city sounds of people heading to work and the occasional delivery truck.
The 8.3 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not luxury by any means, everything just works the way it should. The shower has proper water pressure (you’d be amazed how often that’s not the case), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and the beds are actually comfortable. I stayed there during the Christmas market season – which, by the way, gets absolutely insane in terms of crowds – and having this quiet base to retreat to each evening was perfect. You can walk to all the market stalls in under ten minutes, soak up the mulled wine and gingerbread atmosphere, then escape back to your own space when it gets overwhelming.
The four-star rating feels about right too. It’s definitely a step up from the basic tourist accommodations, but it’s not trying to be some fancy boutique experience. What you get is a well-maintained, thoughtfully set up apartment in a spot that locals would actually want to live in. And honestly, that’s exactly what I want when I’m staying somewhere for more than just a night or two – something that feels real, not like a hotel room with a kitchenette thrown in as an afterthought.

– Dr from Germany – 20 August 2023 (8/10)
Typisches Gefühl,in einem Fachwerkhaus zu wohnen. Man hört die Nachbarn, aber das war ein gemütliches Miteinander. Die Nähe zum Zentrum ist genial.
What could be improved: In der Nacht ist die Straße relativ laut, Fenster mussten besser geschlossen bleiben. Der Balkon ist relativ klein und im Hinterhof, so dass nicht viel Sonne einfällt.
