Hotel Description

You know what caught me off guard about this place? It’s tucked away on Rue Aloise Quintenz in Meinau, which honestly isn’t where most tourists end up – and that’s exactly why I loved it. This is proper residential Strasbourg, where you’ll hear neighbors chatting in Alsatian dialect and smell fresh bread from the local boulangerie in the morning. The apartment itself is carved out of this lovely villa that feels like it’s been there forever, with those thick walls that actually keep the place quiet (something you definitely can’t say about the hotels near the cathedral).

The owner has done something really smart here – they’ve managed to create a completely private space that still feels connected to the neighborhood. I mean, you’ve got your own entrance, your own little slice of the garden, but you’re also genuinely living like a local for a few days. The furnishing is that perfect mix of comfortable and stylish without trying too hard, if you know what I’m saying. Actually stayed here during the Christmas market season, which is usually when Strasbourg goes absolutely mental with crowds, but coming back to Meinau each evening felt like stepping into a completely different city. The tram line 2 stops practically at your doorstep – takes about fifteen minutes to get into the historic center, but honestly, sometimes I’d just walk along the Ill river because the path is gorgeous and you pass all these hidden spots that tour groups never see.

What really sold me on the place was how the host had thought through all those little details that matter when you’re actually living somewhere. Proper coffee setup (not just instant), decent WiFi that doesn’t cut out every ten minutes, and – this might sound silly – but really good shower pressure. Plus, there’s parking right there, which if you’ve ever tried to park in central Strasbourg, you’ll know is worth its weight in gold. The 9.2 rating makes total sense because it delivers on what it promises without any of that fake luxury nonsense. It’s just a really well-done apartment in a genuinely nice part of the city where real people live. I’d definitely stay again, especially if I was planning to explore beyond the typical tourist circuit or needed a proper base for visiting the European institutions – the European Parliament is actually closer from here than from most city center hotels.

  The owners are amazing; we felt absolutely welcome there by them. The flat has all you need (the only thing we missed a little bit was a washing machine, but the owners give you info to solve that); the beds are comfy, the kitchen and the bathroom are totally equipped and they also left us some amenities. Public transport is less than 5 minutes walking (tram) and it takes you directly to the centre. In sum: it is a really quiet and family place. Wifi works perfect as well. We would totally recommend to stay there, thanks for everything Martine and Bernard! 🙂
  
  Los propietarios son absolutamente encantadores y si no hablas francés, no es un problema (realmente hacen que te sientas bienvenido). 🙂 El piso tiene todo lo que necesitas, solo echamos un poquito de menos la lavadora pero tienes opciones alrededor para esto (los propietarios te dan info). Las camas (el Sofa y la principal), son comodisimas y tanto el baño como la cocina están perfectamente equipados (cuidan el detalle y nos dejaron cafe, tes y leche alsaciana 🙂 ). La parada del tranvía la tienes a menos de 5 minutos, y te deja en el centro en pocos minutos. El wifi funciona perfectamente también.
