You know what caught me off guard about the Odalys City Green Marsh? The name makes it sound like some eco-resort in the middle of nowhere, but it’s actually tucked into this quiet residential pocket of Strasbourg that feels wonderfully removed from the tourist chaos. I mean, you’re still only a fifteen-minute walk from the cathedral, but the Marais Vert neighborhood has this laid-back, almost village-y vibe that most visitors never discover.

The aparthotel itself is one of those modern builds that doesn’t try too hard to be charming – and honestly, that works in its favor. The apartments are genuinely spacious (not European “spacious” where you can barely open a suitcase), with proper kitchenettes that you’d actually use. I loved having real counter space and a decent-sized fridge, especially since there’s a Monoprix just a few blocks away on rue de la Krutenau where you can grab groceries without the tourist markup. The building sits on a relatively quiet street, though you’ll hear some traffic during morning rush hour – nothing that keeps you awake, just the gentle hum of a city waking up.

What really sells this place is how it strikes that sweet spot between hotel convenience and apartment independence. The front desk staff actually know the neighborhood – they’ll point you toward the little boulangerie on rue de Zurich instead of the generic chain places, or tell you that the tram stop at Observatoire is usually less crowded than the main tourist routes. The 7.3 rating feels about right, honestly – it’s not going to wow you with fancy amenities or Instagram-worthy design, but everything works properly and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. I particularly appreciated the blackout curtains (something a lot of European hotels still haven’t figured out) and the fact that the Wi-Fi actually reaches every corner of the apartment. Parking can be a bit of a puzzle in this area, but there’s usually street parking available if you don’t mind walking a block or two, and the staff can direct you to a nearby garage if you’re traveling with a car. The location puts you close enough to walk into the Petite France district when you want those postcard views, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with tour groups outside your window at 7 AM.

  The pool was really nice and the room. The mini kitchenette was very practical and very well equipped.
  
  What could be improved: There’s a deposit at the check-in, I didn’t see anything about it before so I was caught off guard. Thankfully the person attending was very helpful and explained it to me and showed me where it was.

  It was close to the Hauptbanhof about 15 mins with bags and 15 mins from the Cathedral. Our room had a microwave and cook top which allow us to cook our dinners. The city is absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed it immensely.
  
  What could be improved: Only that there was no plug for the sink, so we couldn't wash our few plates or fry pan properly. We asked at reception for a plug but the receptionist didn't understand what we meant.
