Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name “Appart 3p RDC Orangerie- Parlement européen,” I thought someone had a field day with Google Translate. But you know what? This little ground-floor apartment on Rue Sleidan actually turned out to be one of those hidden gems that makes you feel smugly superior to all the tourists cramming into overpriced hotel chains near the cathedral.

The location is what really gets me excited about this place. You’re literally a ten-minute walk from the European Parliament – and I mean actually ten minutes, not that inflated “walking distance” nonsense most places claim. The Orangerie park is right there too, which honestly saved my sanity during those gray Strasbourg mornings when I needed somewhere decent to jog without dodging trams on Boulevard de la Victoire. The apartment itself feels properly lived-in rather than sterile – there’s something refreshing about staying somewhere that doesn’t scream “rental property” the moment you walk in. The space is genuinely comfortable for three people (hence the “3p” I assume), and being on the ground floor means you won’t be lugging suitcases up those narrow European staircases that seem designed to punish modern travelers.

What I really appreciated was how quiet Rue Sleidan gets in the evenings. During the day, sure, you’ll hear some street noise – it’s a functioning neighborhood, not some sanitized tourist bubble. But after 9 PM or so, it settles into that perfect urban quiet where you can actually sleep with the windows cracked open. The host clearly knows their stuff too; check-in was refreshingly straightforward, and they’d left these little local touches that you don’t expect – proper French coffee in the kitchen, not those sad instant packets, and actual recommendations for places to eat that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps in Petite France. Speaking of food, there’s a fantastic bakery about two blocks down that does these incredible kougelhopf on weekends, and honestly, waking up to grab fresh pastries became my favorite part of the morning routine. The tram connections are solid if you need to get to the city center quickly, but I found myself walking most places because this part of Strasbourg has that perfect density where everything feels accessible but not overwhelming. It’s the kind of place where you start to understand why people actually live in European cities rather than just visit them.
