Hotel Description
You know what struck me first about the Aloft Strasbourg? It’s got this modern industrial vibe that somehow doesn’t clash with the city’s medieval charm – and honestly, I wasn’t sure that would work when I first walked up. The building sits right on Avenue du Rhin, which means you’re actually in a perfect spot between the old town and the newer business district. I mean, you can walk to Petite France in about fifteen minutes, but you’re also close enough to the European Quarter that business travelers aren’t stuck with a crazy commute.
The lobby has this buzzy energy – there’s always something happening at the bar area, and the music’s just loud enough to feel lively without being obnoxious. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the city. When I asked about getting to the cathedral without dealing with tourist crowds, the front desk guy gave me this route through Rue des Juifs that locals use – saved me probably twenty minutes of elbow-to-elbow walking. The rooms are classic Aloft style (if you’ve stayed at one before, you know the deal), but they’ve adapted well to the narrower European building constraints. The shower pressure is surprisingly good for France, and the beds are firm enough that you won’t wake up feeling like you slept in a hammock. One small thing – the walls aren’t super thick, so if you’re a light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs. It’s not terrible, but you’ll hear your neighbors if they’re having a loud phone call.
What really makes this place work is the location specifics that most hotels gloss over. You’re a five-minute walk from Homme de Fer tram station, which connects you to literally everywhere in Strasbourg – including a direct line to the European Parliament if that’s your thing. There’s a Monoprix right around the corner for grabbing snacks or forgotten toiletries, and honestly, the breakfast situation is solid enough that you don’t need to venture out first thing (though you should eventually try the pastries at Du Pain et des Idées on Rue de la Division Leclerc). The parking situation is what you’d expect in any European city center – meaning expensive and slightly frustrating – but there’s a public garage about two blocks away that won’t completely destroy your budget. I’d actually recommend this place for both tourists and business travelers, which is rare. The 8.6 rating feels right – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers on being a smart, well-located base for exploring one of France’s most underrated cities.

We stayed on the 7th floor, and the view was very nice — the room had huge windows all around to enjoy it. The city centre is just a 7-minute walk away. Although there is only a bar in the hotel, there are a few restaurants next door and also in the shopping centre across the street. The rooms are clean, the staff is nice, and the breakfast is okay.
What could be improved: We had problems with the key card to open our room — it didn’t work, and we had to wait two hours for a technician to arrive. Note to the manager: keep the necessary tool to open the doors at the hotel and train the staff to use it 😀
That said, we received free breakfast the next day, so they handled the situation well. Also, there’s a small play corner next to the reception where our child could play during those two hours — definitely a plus for that too.Wonderful time! – Bruno from Portugal – 18 May 2025 (10/10)
Second time being a guest here. This time with my fiancé. As the first time, staff always friendly, beautiful corner room, nice location with easy access to public transports. I recommend.
